The intentions and purposes are:
- To serve as a meeting point for people interested in Barbro Alving.
- To collect and issue information concerning Barbro Alving.
- To grant Barbro Alving the living memory she deserves, through talking and writing about her to new generations who do not know who she was.
- To make today’s journalists aware of her exemplary journalistic ethics.
- To make her known outside Sweden, especially in those countries, she reported from.
- To honour her 100. birthday (12th of January 2009) with: a plaque on the building Sibyllegatan 59, Stockholm, her longest and last place of residency
- To raise a statue on a strategic and well frequented spot in Stockholm.
- A documentary film – a goal that was achieved thanks to Maj Wechselmann and her acclaimed film.
- To raise money in order to create a Barbro Alving stipendiary fund.
- To work for the foundation of a Barbro Alving stipendiary fund.
